Moeka Shimoura
Moeka Shimoura is interested in spaces where people come together around a shared purpose or a specific locality. Her work explores how the memories embedded in such places intersect and resonate with the personal memories of each visitor. Since May 2021, alongside her own artistic practice, she has been operating Dela Hajiiri, an artist-run center in Fujiidera City, Osaka Prefecture. Through this space, she actively introduces artists to the Haji-no-Sato community, builds local networks, and creates opportunities for collaboration between artists and residents.

共通の目的や地域などによって結びついた人々が集まる場に関心がある。そうした場に刻まれた記憶と、訪れる鑑賞者それぞれが持つ個々の記憶が交差し共鳴する作品を展開している。また、2021年5月から制作の傍ら、大阪府藤井寺市にてアートセンター デラハジリの運営を開始。土師ノ里エリアコミュニティに積極的にアーティストを紹介し、ネットワークづくりや、地域の人々と協働できる機会を提供している。

I am interested in the histories, memories, and everyday practices rooted in specific places, as well as the relationships that have been shaped over time. My artistic practice seeks to intersect these accumulated layers with my own creative process. By engaging deeply with particular localities, I aim to uncover overlooked or untold stories and to listen to the voices of those who live there, exploring ways of creating works that allow viewers to access these layers through their own memories and sensations.
My work spans a variety of media and formats, including installation, two-dimensional works, text, research-based projects, and space management. What unites these diverse approaches is a consistent attitude of not fixing forms or methodologies in advance, but instead developing them in direct response to the specific context and environment. At the core of my practice is a process of observation, interpretation, and the reweaving of relationships.
Since 2021, I have been running an artist-run space called Dela Hajiiri in the Haji-no-Sato area of Fujiidera City, Osaka Prefecture. Through residency productions, collaborations with local residents, research, and dialogue, I explore ways for art to be embedded in everyday life. This space functions not merely as an exhibition venue, but as an experimental site where artistic creation, daily living, individual perspectives, and collective practices can intersect.
I am not only concerned with the final form of a work, but also with the processes that lead up to it, the shifts in relationships among those involved, and the accumulation of time. I consider documentation and text editing as integral parts of my practice, placing importance on transforming intangible practices and traces of collaboration into forms that can be shared with others.
For me, art is both a way of reexamining the structures and systems of society, and a means of carefully tracing connections with places and people. I hope to continue creating in close dialogue with the questions that arise from such engagements.
ある場所に根ざした歴史や記憶、日々の営みのなかで形づくられてきた関係に関心を持ち、そうした蓄積と自身の制作とを交差させるかたちで表現を行っています。特定の土地に向き合うなかで浮かび上がる語られにくい出来事や、そこに生活する人々の声を汲み取り、鑑賞者が自身の記憶や感覚を通じてその層に触れるような作品のあり方を模索しています。
私の制作は、インスタレーション、平面作品、テキスト、リサーチプロジェクト、スペース運営など多岐にわたりますが、共通するのは、あらかじめ形式や方法論を固定せず、その都度の状況や環境と向き合いながら制作の手立てを見出していく姿勢です。実践の中心には、観察し、読み取り、関係を結び直していく過程があります。
2021年より、大阪府藤井寺市・土師ノ里エリアにて、アーティスト・ラン・スペース「デラハジリ」を主宰しています。ここでは、滞在制作や地域住民との協働、リサーチや対話を通じて、芸術が日常のなかで息づくあり方を探っています。このスペースは、単なる展示の場ではなく、制作と生活、個人の視点と共同的な実践とが接続するための実験的な場でもあります。
作品の完成形だけでなく、そこに至るまでのプロセスや関わった人々との関係の変化、時間の蓄積にも関心を持っています。記録やテキストの編集を制作の一部として位置づけながら、非物質的な実践や協働の痕跡を、他者と共有しうるかたちに変換することを重視しています。
芸術を、社会や制度との関係性を再考するための営みであると同時に、場所や人との関わりを丁寧に手繰り寄せる手段として捉えています。今後も、そこから立ち現れる問いに寄り添い、制作を継続していきたいと考えています。
